Planning Reform (Wales) Bill out for Consultation until 26 February 2014

Legislation that will introduce ‘comprehensive changes’ to the Welsh planning system, including the adoption of a national development framework, was published 5th December 2014.  Under the bill, Welsh ministers will be able to take decisions directly in instances of ‘poor performance’. It will also merge local planning authorities to create larger bodies and allow ministers to take decisions directly on large infrastructure projects. Consultation closes 26 February 2014 and can be viewed at http://wales.gov.uk/consultations/planning/draft-planning-wales-bill/
